Through all of its initiatives, WorldRide Impact aims to inspire children to learn about the lives of kids in other parts of the world and to better understand different cultures.

Worldride Impact’s projects include the renovation and maintenance of libraries in underserved communities, buying new books annually, funding local educational experiences as well as immersive experiences through technology, and sponsoring global cultural travel for children.

The Worldride Library is a first of its kind in a Los Angeles public school. When stepping into the library, students aren't only reading up to date books for their current grade level, but they're also learning about different cultures from many other countries. Additionally, if they missed the opportunity for a Worldride Impact travel grant, they are able to virtually travel there using Oculus Technology and Media Quest 3 headsets.

The Worldride Library also hosts authors who come to speak about their travel experiences and cultural education. Through sharing their stories, they inspire students and take them on a global journey right in their own neighborhood.

The concept for the Worldride Library was inspired by the book, “SAM IN LONDON: Cheeky Kids, Medieval Blokes, and Giant Trousers". Quotes from its pages are displayed throughout the library; and Ilustrations of the books characters are embedded with QR codes that link kids directly to the WorldRide Adventures immersive website, allowing them to further explore and even take selfies with the characters.

In partnership with Virgin Atlantic, Worldstrides, & Paul Revere's Pride Booster Club, we are proud to offer children Worldride Impact Travel Grants to countries such as Japan and England, that they might not otherwise be able to visit.

Our grants are delivered in partnership with Paul Revere's Pride Booster Club, who work with Worldride to determine who is eligible. Students must maintain top-notch grades, volunteer for 5 hours at the library each semester, read at least 5 books that feature different cultures, and when selected, write postcards from their travels and create a photo journal with essay discussing their Worldride experience.

Our biannual travel abroad grant program is enhanced in the off years through a new collaboration with Camp Harmony. This year, for the first time, we are introducing Worldride Cultural Day at Camp Harmony in Ojai, CA. Camp Harmony is a nonprofit camp program for underserved children in the greater Los Angeles area and this special experience will engage their campers in cultural exchange activities, including arts, sports, and cooking.

We look forward to a future where we are able to offer additional grants and cultural program opportunities to our youth. With your support & partnership, we can expand our grant offerings and build the vision of Worldride Impact to include even more cultural education opportunities. These unique destination experiences would include Australia, Africa, Spain and Italy.

Let's help bridge the gap together!

Below are some key facts about Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD):

01

Regular funding for library books is not provided. Most school libraries have a collection older than the students they serve.

02

Technology, specifically for school libraries, is not funded. It comes from the general school budget.

03

It is not required to have ANY staff in the elementary school's libraries. Some elementary school libraries have even closed.

04

Credentialed teacher librarians are not funded in elementary schools, where early literacy skills and fostering a love of reading are essential.

Why has this happened?

Critical public school programs are being defunded across the United States, leaving broad gaps in our children's developmental education. Schools rely heavily on state aid, and cuts to state funding generally force local school districts to scale back educational services.

It's important that our kids don't fall behind.

Worldride Impact works with Elementary School Booster Clubs to help make sure they receive foundational exposure to arts, culture, and music through reading and beyond. By collecting your donations, together we can provide kids invaluable experiences that will help shape the next generation.
